MOKE – CANADA

From British classic to Caribbean icon, the Moke has become a symbol of fun in the sun.

Since 2018 Albion has supplied MOKE’s to Canadian’s coast to coast. Originally a 20th-century collectible car reinvented with 21st-century green-friendly electric power. This electric car is versatile, carbon-free and efficient. This upgraded version has more leg-room, expanded trunk space, a kick ass sound system and sex appeal. The Moke stays true to its roots while keeping its headlights on the future.

MOKE - History

What began as a military invention for the British army in the late 1950s became a cultural touch point with celebrity fans like The Kardashian’s, Brigitte Bardot, Princess Margaret, James Bond and the Beach Boys. Created by the British Motor Company and Alec Issigonis, the father of the original Austin Mini, the Moke was designed to be combat ready, a car that could be parachuted from the skies. While its life as a military vehicle didn’t last too long, the open-air car has become beloved by stars, surfers and Caribbean travelers.

MOKE – Today

Today’s Moke is entirely reengineered while keeping Moke’s classic design and spirit alive. The car is bigger, wider and stronger. The car is 2,300 pounds, the heaviest Moke ever built. It feels sturdier and taller than the old Moke and has been raised from a 13-inch wheel to a 14-inch wheel. The Moke uses a five step E-Dip process to control the quality of the paint; the undercarriage is rust-proofed to prevent corrosion.

Moke’s are ordered on spec from their factory in Sarasota, Florida. When landed in Canada they retail between $35,000 - $40,000 (CAD). You won’t see these vehicles being driven on the highway, however expect to see them in your local communities. These vehicles are tapping into the emerging LSV market in Canada (Low Speed Vehicle). Exclusively in areas with speeds under 50KM/HR is where you will see MOKE and many other LSV’s.

MOKE - It's Electric!

Most importantly, the new Moke is green. Ditch the noise and gas and enjoy this vehicle the 21st century way. No special charger required - you can charge it with a 110-outlet (Any household outlet). Eight hours gets a full charge, and a full charge can get you almost forty miles of drive time. The Moke is perfect for Canadians looking for a unique vehicle to drive around the community. Whether that’s on a hobby farm, winery, cottage, trailer park or on local roads, the Moke is the perfect way to get around.
